Meet the artist: Ralph Marra

In this blog series, we get to know the artists behind the brilliant Little Print Shop of Horrors posters 2024 collection. You'll discover the story behind their poster concept and where you can find more of their awesome work!

If you’re a close friend of Creative Spark, expect this man doesn't need an introduction, it is the legend that is Ralph Marra, our owner Neil’s dad.

What inspired you to take part in the Little Print Shop of Horrors and support its charity mission?

I’ve contributed a few times now to the shop and being Neil’s dad and shareholder he always ropes me to bring out my pens one last time for amazing causes.

Can you tell us about your poster idea for the event and why you chose this concept?

I’m a big fan of The Handmaid's Tale and I’ve been experimenting with a loose paint style for a while so I felt that the bold shapes and interesting type really was a good Juxtaposition based on how dark the show is.

Can you share a quick overview of your career journeys, and biggest achievements?

I’ve been drawing and a visualiser / art director for over 40 years. From a head art director in top North West advertising agencies, to a freelance visualiser for some of the leading agencies. It’s been a long and fun journey and now I just support my son and Creative Spark as and when I get the phone call.

We massively appreciate the kind donation form our artists this year, without them this initiative simply would not have happened. So a big thank you to Ralph for his brilliant work and kindness.
