In this blog series, we get to know the artists behind the brilliant Little Print Shop of Horrors posters 2024 collection. You'll discover the story behind their poster concept and where you can find more of their awesome work!
We welcome Kefan Shi!
Kefan, please can you tell us about your poster idea, and why you chose this concept?
"Pearl is one of my favorite R-rated horror films. I'm drawn to its eerie, absurd atmosphere. I absolutely adore Mia Goth—she's incredibly captivating! She masterfully portrays the contrast between innocence and terror, as well as the depths of mental illness and twisted emotions. The film beautifully captures Pearl's loneliness, repression, and intense desire to escape her mundane life, showing her psychological journey from a dream-filled young girl to a deranged killer. In my own work, I also strive to convey that sense of innocence mixed with eeriness—a dissonance in emotion and atmosphere. That's what attracted me to this film!"
Kefan, what inspired you to take part in the Little Print Shop initiative?
"Well! I’m someone who enjoys watching R-rated films, so the combination of an R-rated movie and the horror genre really excites my senses. When I received the invitation, I was thrilled, as I’ve always hoped for an opportunity to explore this genre. Additionally, I am more than willing to participate in charity events, especially with an organization like Humans MCR."
We'd love to hear more about your career journey, and biggest achievements so far?
"I’m glad to be working in a career I love as an illustrator. My work has been recognized with awards from WIA, ADC Young Ones, Communication Arts, the Society of Illustrators, and 3X3. One of the projects I’m most proud of is an illustration commissioned by WWF titled Garden, which portrays birds that need protection for human survival. I love drawing birds! They are so elegant. Lately, I’ve been exploring the fusion of AR with illustration, focusing on stickers and dynamic illustrations."
And finally, where can we see more of your brilliant work?
"If you enjoy my work, I’d be happy if you visit my website at www.kefanshi.com and follow me on Instagram at @langshiart. To see what I am doing now!"
We massively appreciate the kind donation form our artists this year, without them this initiative simply would not have happened. So go on folks, give Kefan a little follow and show him some support for his brilliant work and kindness.
