Meet the artist: Harky

In this blog series, we get to know the artists behind the brilliant Little Print Shop of Horrors posters 2024 collection. You'll discover the story behind their poster concept and where you can find more of their awesome work!
We welcome Harky, based out of London, and specialist in  Illustration, graphic design, and murals. Harky's horror movie of choice is A Nightmare on Elm Street, great choice!

Harky, please can you tell us about your poster idea, and why you chose this concept?
"My poster concept draws inspiration from a quote in The Handmaid’s Tale, a stark reminder of the horrors many women endure daily but also of their immense strength. The quote, ‘Never mistake a woman’s meekness for weakness,’ is central to the piece, placed within the silhouette of the iconic handmaid figure. I’ve stayed true to the original colours — the white cap and red dress — to honour the visual legacy of the show while emphasising the message of resilience."
Harky, what inspired you to take part in the Little Print Shop initiative?
"A friend encouraged me to apply, and I couldn’t resist! Horror has always intrigued me, but what truly drives me is using my art to support meaningful causes. I believe art has the power to advocate, to speak for change, and this event aligns perfectly with my passion for giving back through creativity."

We'd love to hear more about your career journey, and biggest achievements so far?
"My career began in the Midlands, working with Coventry City Council and Warwickshire College before a move to London opened incredible opportunities. I've had the privilege of working with BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief, and going freelance led me to collaborate with some amazing brands such as Footlocker x NBA, New Balance, #Merky Books, Channel 4, and EA Sports. Each project has been a milestone, fuelling my passion for creating impactful art."

And finally, where can we see more of your fabulous work?

"You can explore my portfolio at www.harkirankalsi.co.uk and stay updated on my latest projects through Instagram @harkirankalsi."

We're loving the strong message from our artists coming through, that there should be more opportunities to use their talents to make meaningful change in the world, and we're truly grateful that they have taken part in the Little Print Shop of Horrors initiative this year, as it would be nothing without the kind donation of time from our wonderful artists.  So go on folks, give Harky a little follow and show her some support for her brilliant work and kindness.
